Syzygy Retreats accepts a limited number of work study positions each year as a trade or partial trade towards Work Study Retreats.
Work Study positions entail general help as well as skilled roles at Syzygy Community House and provides hands-on experience in such areas as maintenance of Green facilities and grounds, participating in new and ongoing projects in permaculture, mycology, restoration, and ecological forestry, as well as web site development, research, and grant writing.
After completing the interview process, selected candidates will collaborate with Syzygy staff to draft a professional contract outlining the number of hours and type of service to be rendered in exchange for Retreat options and amenities to be included in the agreement.
At the end of a Work Study Retreat, Syzygy Community House and/or Syzygy Retreats will be in a position to provide professional recommendations to prospective future employers or academic institutions.
In certain circumstances, Work Study Retreats may qualify towards University credit hours, internships, practicum hours, or other work study types of academic credit. Collaborative research projects are also an option.
Work Study Retreat candidates are encouraged to send in a resume
and a 1-3 page essay or statement describing their interest in
participating at Syzygy Community House including the type of Retreat they are seeking,
what they have to offer, and what they hope to gain from the experience.
